John Hancock, Jr., journal, 1824.

The collection includes the journal of John Hancock, Jr., 1 January-3 July 1824. In daily entries, Hancock's journal documents the life of a cadet in the early years of Norwich. He reports on his fellow students, the physical environment both at the Academy and in the village of Norwich, VT, discipline issues, Captain Alden Partridge and his extraordinary pedestrian excursions and teaching methodology, as well as other staff of the Academy. A typed transcription is available with the collection.
